Willie H. Tucker, age 86 departed this life peacefully on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Willie was born in Halifax, Virginia on May 12, 1939; to the late Joseph (Joe) Tucker and Emma Lovelace Tucker. He received his early education in Halifax County School District. Willie farmed for most of his young life, until he met and fell in love with, the Reverend Dr. Ann J. Tucker.
Willie married Ann and moved to New Castle, DE in 1969, and immediately started working at Midas Muffler. Although he was not formally educated; he quickly became one of Midas Muffler top Mechanics, and he held that title until retirement of 30+ years. Willie’s greatest treasures in life was service to God, his wife, and children. He loved vacationing and traveling to watch his grandchildren perform and compete; and everyone knows, he wouldn’t let the sun go down without making sure his “other favorite lady – his car” was clean and ready for the next day.
Willie joined Peoples Baptist Church on February 3rd, 1980, under the leadership of Rev Richard A. Lampkins. After years of service, he became a Trustee and later joined the Ushers board as Sargent of Alms. He loved working and serving in the church; no matter what the job was, never complaining when he was called upon. Brother Tucker was a man of integrity, with few words. Unless you wanted to hear the truth; you knew not to ask him. Willie exemplified a true servant; modest and humble. He understood that God sees and rewards all.
Willie was preceded in death by his father Joseph and mother Emma Tucker, four brothers: Roy (Synder), Arthur (Billy), Clarence (Man), Joseph (Bunk).
He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife for 56 years Ann (Button) Tucker, one daughter Angela Walker (husband George), two sons William Tucker (fiancé Anne), and Jonathan Tucker (wife Jamie); one sister Thelma Stovall (Husband Gus); eight grandchildren, Raylyn, Cherelle, Alex, Tyus, Tyla, Landon, Miles, and Harrison; four godchildren Bob, Shalonda, Jordan and Steve; one sister in-law Sarah Tucker and a host of relatives and friends.
