William D. "Sam" Penn, Sr.

William was born on May 31, 1954 in Rome, Georgia to the Betty A. Penn and late Hughdon Penn, Sr. He departed this life on February 11, 2019 with his family by his side. William was affectionately known as Donnell or Sam. He received his early education in Floyd County, Georgia and attended Wilmington High School. William later began working at the DuPont Country Club and Diver Chevrolet. In his free time he enjoyed football, wrestling, basketball, and watching CNN. William was preceded in death by his father, Hughdon Penn, Sr. and grandmother, Lillian Whatley. William is survived by his four children: Clarissa Dunn and Preston Dunn (Barbara Wright - mother), William Penn, II and Felesha Penn (Victoria Penn-mother); mother, Betty A. Penn; siblings, Terry L.(LaDawn) Penn, Victoria (Clarence) Penn-English and Hughdon Penn, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Zykeria, Derron, Jiryn, Daivon, Jesenia, Zion, William and Denia; one great grandchild, Aaliyah; best friend Clarence; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
