William Alfred Brown

July 27, 1946 — March 2, 2025

We gather to honor and remember the extraordinary life of William "Brownie" Brown, who peacefully entered eternal rest on March 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with a long illness. Born in Twin Oaks, Pennsylvania, William was a resilient and dedicated man whose profound impact touched the lives of many.

William was a dedicated family man who exemplified love and commitment. He was the beloved son of Alice Mosley and a cherished husband to Shirley Brown, who sadly preceded him. William later found love and companionship in his marriage to Anita Brown. As a proud father, he nurtured his sons, William Jr. (Trudy), Brian (Angel), and Keith (Blair), with unwavering support and affection. His family served as the foundation of his life, and he consistently provided them with love and guidance.

William's professional journey saw him retire after 30 years of steadfast service at General Motors. His commitment to his country was commendable, as he served honorably in the National Guard for 23 years. A decorated Vietnam Veteran who earned a Purple Heart, he embodied patriotism and courage.

In addition to his military service, William found purpose in his involvement with the Masons. He joined the Linwood Lodge # 87 in 2007, quickly rising to Master Mason and serving as a School Master, guiding and mentoring others in the fraternity. His passion for knowledge and service was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As an active member of Canaan Baptist Church, William lived his faith through action, serving on the church's Security Ministry and sharing his voice as a member of the Men of God Community Choir. His favorite scripture, Psalms 23, resonated deeply with his spirit, reflecting his commitment to his beliefs and community.

William's exceptional qualities—his loving nature, generosity, and passionate spirit—enriched the lives of those around him. His infectious laughter, wise counsel, and boundless generosity created lasting memories for everyone he met. He cherished the Masonic fellowship, where he formed lifelong friendships and emerged as a respected leader and mentor.

William's life stands as a testament to the values of love, service, and community spirit. He imparted compassion, strength, and character lessons to his sons, leaving a legacy of unwavering love and outstanding service to his nation.

In his passing, we mourn the loss of a remarkable man and celebrate the many lives he touched throughout his journey. William is survived by his devoted wife, Anita; two brothers, Randy Sneed (Joyce) and Terry Raven-Sneed; five sisters, Diane Watson (Terry, deceased), Rosemary Coleman (Charles, deceased), Paulette Hunter (Darrell), Vida Sneed (George), and Angela Sneed-Meadows (James); and his beloved sons. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Shantae, Denzel (Kate), Megan Riley, Shirley Ryan, Jaiera Broswell, Tyiesha Prioleau, and one great-grandson, Jayen Broswell.

William is fondly remembered by his devoted friend Benjamin Pearsall, the brothers of Linwood Lodge #87 and the 100% Club, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

As we bid farewell to William Brown, we find comfort in knowing that his memory will continue to inspire us. We will forever cherish his indelible mark on our lives.
