Vivian Lue Davis

March 3, 1940 — July 7, 2024

Vivian Lue Davis, born on March 3, 1940, in Edgerton, Virginia, was the cherished eldest daughter of Robert Valentine and Sarah Saunders. She peacefully departed this life at her home on July 7, 2024. Vivian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Lee Davis, her brother, Theodore (Buster) Valentine, her cousin, Homer (Buck) Callis, Sr., and her brothers-in-law, Gilbert Finney and Fleming (Flip) Lee.

Vivian's early education was in the Brunswick County Public Schools, and she proudly graduated from James Solomon Russell High School in June 1958. In 1959, she met the love of her life, Richard Lee Davis, and they were married on November 7, 1959. Their 30-year union blessed them with four children. Vivian was a devoted mother who always placed her children's needs above her own. She was renowned for her famous macaroni and cheese and collard greens, which were loved by all who knew her. Vivian had a deep affection for people and animals alike.

Vivian grew up in a Christian household, lovingly raised by her mother and grandmother. She was actively involved in church activities and held a strong faith in God. Known for her kindness and gentle nature, Vivian always extended a helping hand and welcomed everyone with a warm smile. When her mother could no longer care for herself, Vivian brought her into her home and dedicated herself to her mother's care. I am deeply grateful for the compassionate care she provided to our mother. This is why I would take a month off work and bring Fox along to support Vivian. Additionally, Vivian cared for Marcella when Betty was unable to do so.

Vivian Lue Davis is survived by her two sisters: Carol Valentine- Lee of Englewood, New Jersey and Celeste Valentine-Finney of Teaneck, New Jersey, her four children: Sandra T. Davis of Wilmington, Delaware, Veronica Davis of Wilmington, Delaware, Pamela Davis of Wilmington, Delaware, and Richard L. Davis Jr. (Jennifer) of Wilmington, Delaware. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Antoine, Porsche, Nikolas, Salah, Amir, Omar, Richard Dashon, Miles, and Anaiyah; seven great-grandchildren: Marquis, Kaylee, Antoinia, Antione, Ahmir, Peru, and Olive; and three great-great-grandchildren: A’Quarius, A'Naviair, and Naamari. Additionally, she is survived by her dear best friend Mary Bishop, her brother-in-law Henry Davis, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends. Vivian's love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
