Vera J. Wilford, daughter of the late Claude and Florence Walley Wilford was born on August 10, 1941 in Coleman's Corner, Maryland. She departed this life suddenly on Friday, September 28, 2007, at Christiana Care Medical Ceneter, Stanton, Delaware. Vera received her early education in Wilmington Public Schools and attended Howard High School, where she participated on various sports teams. Most of her employment was in Security Field. She worked form many years as the first female Harbor Police Officer at the Port of Wilmington. She was affectionately known as "Lady Doc". Vera leaves to cherish her memories; 3 daughters, Blenda Hutt, Cheryl Saunders (Terrence); Deardra Merriweather (Richard); 2 sons Dean Hutt (Yvette), Aaron Hutt (Deidra); 3 sisters; Janice Rogers (C. Lawler), Renee Dawkins (James) and Wanda Wilford, One brother Claude Lamotte Wilford; 3 half brothers, 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
