Veda C. Ravenell-Gaines

July 1, 1959 — February 25, 2022

Veda C. Ravenell-Gaines was born on July 1, 1959, in Asheville North Carolina to Precious Akien and Archie Sibert. She peacefully passed surrounded by her loved ones on February 25, 2022 in Newark, Delaware.
Veda received her early childhood education from the Philadelphia School System and graduated from Germantown High School. Upon graduating from high school she attended business school to prepare her for Corporate America.
Veda became gainfully employed by PNC Bank in her early twenties and PNC would become her one and only employer. Her colleagues would attest that she made an impeccable impact on many during her forty-one-year career at the bank.
Veda was baptized at the tender age of ten under the pastorate of the late Pastor Helen Campbell at Pentecostal Faith Assembly Church. At an early age, her passion for helping others was being cultivated as she supported the young people's auxiliary, managed the church candy store, and was known for sprinkling the extras for the church celebrations. She also enjoyed going to the summer P.A. of W conventions.
After relocating to Delaware, Veda became a dedicated member of Highway Word of Faith where she served on the Usher Board and then was appointed as the Usher Board director. Veda was indeed a servant-leader extraordinaire and was always prepared to serve. Even when she wasn't scheduled to usher she would still show up for church in her uniform ready to serve. Whether it was a church service or family affair you could be reassured she wanted to know what she could do and if you didn't have the answer she would find a way to contribute and tell you to hush!
Veda's hobbies included cooking, crocheting, board puzzles and she had the green thumb for potted plants. Veda will always be remembered by her loving heart and passion to bless others.
Veda was preceded in death by her mother Precious O'Hannon and her father Archie Sibert.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her loving and devoted husband Elvis; sons Joseph (Alishia) and Ivan. Grandchildren Saniyah and Jalen; Her siblings Derothea, Denise, Jacob Junior, Phillip (Earlene), David, Sam and Ivan (Crystal); Sister in Loves Vera, Mary, Lisa,
