Ulysses Mcgruder

Ulysses 'Cookie' McGruder was born on April 30, 1957, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Clara Roberts. Ulysses received his early childhood education from Walton Elementary. He attended Bailey Junior High and then received his GED. After school he would work with his Uncle Harrison Cook, completing many landscaping and construction projects. He joined the Navy CB's and during his station in California met his wife of 33yrs, Diane McGruder.

He was a faithful member of New Life Baptist Church. He participated in Audio and Pastoral Ministries, always eager to assist with helping at the church. He was an avid Eagles and Nascar fan. Amazing fisherman, love to play golf and was an excellent Bowler. He was a tech-savvy kind of man, always interested in fixing computers and learning about new technologies. He loved to travel and visited many foreign countries. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Ulysses 'Cookie' McGruder is survived by Diane McGruder (wife), Lakashia Young (Daughter), Sakina Lewis (Daughter), Sylvester Lewis(Son-in-law), Joy Mattews (Daughter), Crystal Smith (Daughter), Latrice McGruder (Daughter), Clara Roberts (Mother), Roosevelt Roberts (Stepfather), Nannie Wilkerson (Mother-in-law), Rodney Nickleson (Brother), Gretchen McGruder (Sister), Lionell Davis (Brother-in-law), Gerome Davis (Brother-in-law), Eugene Davis (Deceased), (Brother-in-law), Constance Davis (Sister-in-law), 12 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
