Tyrone (Curtis) Kennedy Sr. was born on November 30, 1951 to the late Helen Cephas and William
Watkins in Wilmington, Delaware. Curtis peacefully departed this life on August 2, 2023 at home with
his wife by his side.
Curtis received his early education from the New Castle County public school system and graduated
from P.S. Dupont High School. He then furthered his education by attending Delaware Technical
Community College and later enlisted into the U.S. Army to further explore greater opportunities. Curtis
served in the U.S. Army and National Guard dedicating 14 years to our country.
After 38 years of working at DelDOT Department of Transportation Curtis decided it was time to retire
and enjoy the rest of his life with the love of his life Phillistine Kennedy. They created a beautiful union
over 39 years ago and have been attached at the hip ever since.
The two loved to spend time listening to oldies but goodies, traveling to Atlantic City, New Jersey and
strolling the park on nice days. Curtis also known as Slick enjoyed watching his favorite St. louis Cardinals
baseball team, eating at Home Country Buffet, and in his earlier years, he partied at Cozy Corner.
Tyrone (Curtis) leaves to cherish his wife Phillistine Kennedy, his children Fagan Torres, Tyrone Kennedy
Jr. (Ronda), Steve (Sophie), Regina, Angel, Linette and Bernard Boardley. His seven sisters, two brothers,
14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, his favorite sister and brother in-law Linette and William
Cooper. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He was also proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, 1 granddaughter and two grandsons.
