Thomas A. Hoopes, Jr., age 78 of Wilmington, DE passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born July 30, 1930 in Upland, PA to the late Thomas Hoopes, Sr and Esther Hoopes. He enjoyed his 30 year plus career with Delmarva Power as an electrician. Following his retirement from Delmarva Power, he decided to share his presents and services for 5 years to shuttling the physically and mentally challenged. Tom or Mr. Tom to most was a die hard Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He never missed an Eagles home game at the vet. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam era. He enjoyed gardening, coaching little league, listening to Frank Sinatra on Sunday mornings and spending time with his many grandchildren. He was the best father ever! Thomas was predeceased by son, Thomas and sibling, Lee. He is survived by his wife of 20 plus years, Audrey Hoopes, 3 sons, Stephen, Vernon and Brian; 2 daughters, Robin and Crystal; 3 siblings, Bob, Ken and Doris D'Ambrosio; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and his favorite dog, Peanut Butter.
