Thelma Lorraine Taylor was born on December 22, 1937, in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Rayfield L. Taylor Sr. and Annie E. Wilson Taylor. Thelma was the fourth child out of Nineteen children from this union. Thelma departed this Life suddenly on September 21, 2021, in Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital.

Thelma received her early childhood education from #5, #29 schools and graduated from the Historic Howard High School Class Of 1955. While attending the Historic Howard High School where she played basketball and was a Wild-Cat Cheerleader. After school, Thelma played the first base position for Amazon's Team in a Wilmington women's softball league. Thelma enjoyed bowling and bowled with the Monday Club League. Thelma was employed 38 years of combined employment with the Dupont Company Life Science, Dupont Merck Pharmaceutical Company which was acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb Company when she retired. Because of her "Jovial Personality", she was well respected and liked by her co-workers.
Thelma was raised in a Christian home along with her siblings and gave her "Life" to "Christ" at an early age. Thelma joined New Mt Olive Baptist Church And received full membership on July 4, 2010. She considered it a blessing to be able to worship in the same Household of Faith with her daughter (Doreen) and son (Dana).

Thelma had many hobbies and interests, mainly cooking and baking for the family and others. You could always find Thelma setting at her kitchen table putting together jigsaw puzzles sometimes into the early morning hours. She was an avid reader and an astute crossword solver. Thelma was always ready for a challenging game of "Spades" and "Pinochle" she was considered one of many of the best players of the game!!!! Thelma also enjoyed shopping for clothes, furnishings for the home, and other accessories.

Thelma was predeceased by her parents Rayfield L. Sr and Annie E. Taylor: brothers: Roland Phillips; Leonard and Louis (Twins) Rayfield L Jr; Calvin L; John; Larry V and Dennis M; sisters: Sharon J., Joyce A; three infant girls: survived by one daughter Doreen M Taylor; one son Dana L. Taylor Bel Air, Maryland; three bonus daughters: Toni Carter, Joyce Todd, and Joann Atkins, #2 son James "Jimmy" Fulton Jr, two Grandsons: Alfred and Terrance(Michelle) Taylor: Eight Great Grands; Shameeka, Alesha, Zy'aire and Za'mere(Twins) Ter'Shonda, Terrance Jr, Jamar, and Tamira: Four Great Great Grands: Jaliera, Carter, Tysha and Ma'lyah. Two Brothers: William E Sr., (Beatrice); Oliver C. Sr.,(Wanda); four sisters: Mary Fields of Egg Harbor, Nj; Christine A; Dorothy J Taylor-Thompson; Sarah M Taylor-Williams: three sisters-in-law: Katie, Geraldine, Deborah. One Devoted Cousin Ulysses Johnson: two devoted lifetime friends; Jean Myers of Sarasota, Fl, and Delores Tatman; three sister like friends Betty Downes of Pondtown, Md; Johnny Mae Richardson of Chester, Pa and Donise Ryle, goddaughter, Sharonda Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
