Sylvester J. Hollis, Sr. was born on February 9, 1937 in Chester, PA, to Frederick D. Hollis, Sr. and Laura May Hinson Hollis. He passed on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Riddle Hospital in Media, PA.
Sylvester received his early childhood education from Frederick Douglass School. After graduating from Chester High School in 1955, Sylvester served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Once his military career was over, he met the love of his life Rosalee and the couple were married June 27, 1964. He took a position at Reynolds Metals until the company closed. Later on, he worked at the Sun Oil Refinery for 19 years. Sylvester and Rosalee were happily married for 57 years.
Sylvester was a faithful deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Linwood PA. He had many hobbies and interests including dancing, singing, gardening, and reading the Bible.
Sylvester was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers John Francis, Frederick Jr. (Dorothy), Purcell, and Harvey, his sisters Dolores and Rev. Alfreda Smith (Oliver), and cousin Maggie Estella Graves (George).
Sylvester is survived by his wife Rosalee, their children Lisa, Sylvester Jr. (Sabrina), and Crystal, his sisters Loretta Wilson and Zora Jones, sister-in-law Marie, his grandchildren Michael, Ariana, Joey, Jayden, Justin, and Lauren, and a host of family and friends. Cemetery Details
