Sophia (Ponzo) Allen- departed this life at home on May 30, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Sophia was affectionately and loving called "Mom", by family, friends and throughout her neighborhood. Mom never turned her back to give 1:1 advice (in her kitchen) to anyone in need. Sophia enjoyed cooking, baking, and worshiping God. Mom treasured her family and loved spending time with them the most. Sophia was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Ponzo and son Alvan Butcher. Mom leaves cherished memories with her son Leonard; daughters Rosalyn and Rochelle Ponzo; devoted granddaughter/caregiver Marquist; her siblings, Lottie Wilson, Shirley Robinson, Emma Golden, Adila Moore, Theresa Henry (Doc), Anna, Samuel (Patricia), Lonnie Ponzo, Stacy Owens (Prentiss) and Shirley Barnes and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
