Shirley L. Paula

Shirley L. (Gibson) Paula Age 49 of New Castle, DE died peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at her residence, with her son by her side. Shirley was born in Easton, MD to the late Catherine Gibson and was raised in Old New Castle by her aunt, the late Marie Lewis and her husband, Rick. Shirley was a 1973 graduate of William Penn High School and attended Goldey Beacom College, where she later worked as a secretary. She then worked for several law firms in the Wilmington area. Shirley then went to work for State Farm Insurance for many years under the agent, Glen Stewart. Shirley was a faithful member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church of Wilmington, DE. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Miguel R. Paula, III; a son Miguel "Rico" Paula, IV of New Castle, DE; a brother, Deacon Charles E. Warrick and his wife, Wessie Boney-Warrick of Middletown, DE; 1 sister, Doris Gibson of New Castle, DE; mother and father-in-law, Mildred and Miguel R. Paula Jr.; brother-in-law, Val Paula; and sister-in-law, Carol "Pie"; aunts, Mary E. Gibson of Wilmington, DE, Virginia Murray of Annapolis, MD, Lillian L. Hithcock and Marian Goodwin of Detroit, MI; a devoted aunt Beatrice E. Gibson; devoted cousins, Sandra Gibson and Faye Smallwood; nieces and nephews, Javier, Rocky (Raquel) and Juan Paula and devoted niece, Charee Warrick Butler and her husband, Troy Butler; great nieces and nephews, Troyanna, Charne, Kwame and Charlie; devoted Christian friends, First Lady Anita Watson, Aggie Southerland and Mary Stevens; and a host of cousins and friends.
