Ruth Virginia Peters

January 15, 1924 — December 14, 2022

Ruth Virginia Peters was the daughter of the late Isaiah and Mamie Reid Singleton now deceased. She was educated in the York City School District, graduating from William Penn Senior High School.


Ms. Ruth was married to Maurice E. Peters. They had two children, Pam and Muki. She was the grandmother of Kush and had two great-grandsons, Miles and Reese.


Ms. Ruth was employed by several industries and retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1986.


Ms. Ruth has been a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church all her life. She was an active member serving in many capacities: Board of Trustees, the Missionary Ministry and Chairperson of the Norrell Scholarship Committee.


Ms. Ruth was a member of the NAACP and the Crispus Attucks Community Center, volunteered at the Heart & Hands Gift Shop of York County Area Agency on Aging and President of Downtown York Chapter #3060, AARP.


Ms. Ruth loved reading, gardening and traveling.


Ms. Ruth was preceded in death by her brother Jerome Singleton and former husband Maurice E. Peters, Sr.


Mommie was loved and cherished by her children Pam and Muki, grandson Kush and great-grandchildren Miles and Reese, nieces, nephews, church family and the community.
