Ruby N. Williams

June 10, 1931 — September 7, 2014

Ruby N. Williams was born on June 10, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Charlotte and Paul Woodard. She went home to be with Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2014 after spending the weekend with her family at her side. Ruby moved to Wilmington, Delaware in her adolescence but often spent her summers in Tennessee. She attended Howard High School and later worked as a caretaker for the Morrison family for several years. Ruby was a faithful member of St. James AUMP Church where she sang in the choir. Her favorite hymns were "He Walks with Me (In the Garden)" and "Victory Is Mine". Ruby had many interests. She was an avid reader and loved classic movies. Ruby also enjoyed traveling, caring for her flower garden and spending time with her many beloved dogs. But Ruby's greatest joy in life was spending time with her three sons and their families. Ruby spent the last years of her life residing at Kentmere Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Wilmington, Delaware where she became part of a new community and developed friendships and hobbies that she enjoyed. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Yeates and son Marcus L. Williams. She is survived by two sons: Lawrence B. Williams (Thiara) of Middletown and Dennis P. Williams (Shayne) of Wilmington; Five grandchildren: Shanda Hall (Jonathan) of Middletown, Dwayne Williams of Wilmington, Amanda McMillan (Waldo) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Lauren Williams of Tallahassee, FL and Courtney Beard (Robert) of Middletown; six great-grandchildren: Jonathan Hall Jr, Morgan Hall, Gabrielle McMillan, Kendall McMillan, William McMillan and Sean Beard.
