Ronald E. Johnson, the beloved son, of Sterling Ellis and Isabel Robertson (Preceded him in death) entered this life on January 1, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York.
Ronald was raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. He attended and graduated from George Westinghouse Technical and Vocational High School.
Ronald was dedicated and proud to serve as a New York State Correction Officer for 30 years. After retiring from that position, he relocated to Elkton, MD. Ronald decided that retirement would have to wait a little longer and joined the Delaware River & Bay Authority as a Toll Collector and served in that role for 20 years.
Ronald “1 Way” never met a stranger. Ronald’s huge smile and bigger than life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He brought joy and laughter to everywhere went!
Ronald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julia Robinson-Johnson; his daughter, Ronique Julia Johnson; his son, Ronald E. Johnson, Jr.; and his brother, Sterling Richard Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his son, Andre Johnson; his daughters, Sabrina Alston (Jermaine), Tarsha St. Bernard (Charles), and Monique Robinson-Johnson. He is also survived by his eight loving grandchildren: Bryan, Joshua, Shellise, Britani, Tiffani, Teani, Charles-Maurice, and Charles-Ronald; his five precious great-grandchildren: Jalin, Navi, Micah, Kennedi, and Ayaan: his life-long friends, John, Foster, Jerry, Pete, Termite, Roland, Nate, Bubby, Dave, Larry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
To some, he was known as Rah-Rah, Ron, Mr. Johnson, Big Daddy, Grandpa, Pop, Dad, or Daddy – but to all who knew him, he will forever be remembered as ONE WAY RJ.
