Ronald E. Martin

February 26, 1944 — July 3, 2022

Ronald Emory Martin was born Feb 26, 1944, in Wilmington, DE to Martha Johnson and Peter Lee. Ronald was raised with love and care by his Aunt Carrie and Uncle Pete in Golts, Md. He received his education and graduated from Garnett School in Chestertown, MD. After a long illness Ronald passed away peacefully with his son Donnie by his side on Sunday July 3, 2022, in Chester, PA at Crozier Hospital.

Ronald affectionately known to everyone as Ronnie, worked several construction and driving jobs after high school until settling down and making a career at General Motors Assembly plant in Wilmington, DE

Ronnie worked as a line supervisor and held other positions for GM for over 35 years until his retirement. Always a hard worker and never one to sit around, years after retiring from GM Ronnie worked for Statewide Medical Transport Inc. until his failing health.

In his younger years Ronnie played on several softball teams and enjoyed playing in horseshoe tournaments. At one point in time, he was a member of The Bottom Drop Horseshoe Club. Ronnie always had a passion for cars and motorcycles, and you could find him often working on friends and family cars and bikes in his home garage. He loved his Harley Davidson bikes and spent many weekends on long rides with his friends. An avid football fan, during football season Ronnie wore his Eagles gear proudly and cheered on his beloved team. His son Donnie remembers fondly their greatest moments going to Eagles games.

Ronald accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior many years ago and attended Simpson United Methodist Church in Belvedere. He was also a member of The Mason Lodge of Wilmington, DE.

Most importantly Ronald was a kindhearted man with an infectious smile who loved his family and friends and always made time to help them in any way he could. He leaves to cherish his memories by his son and best friend Deondre Boyer, stepchildren Maurice Boyer, Marcie Boyer and Quanisha Luke. He also leaves to mourn his 6 siblings, Evelyn Ward, William Martin, Katherine Wilson, Nioka Hinson, Nancy Thomas (Willey) and Howard Hinson (Denise), and Cousin Ethel Anthony (Phillip). He was preceded in death by his siblings, Norman Martin, Wanda Johnson, Carmen Harmon, Curtis Raison and Margaret Watson, Ronald was blessed to have a large family and his memories will live on through his grandchildren, Lashon Garnett, Dareon Johnson, Deondre Boyer Jr, Ondrea Boyer who will miss him dearly with additional 8 more grandchildren. He had 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Good times and memories will also be cherished by his lifelong and special friends; Sheila Banton, Cathleen Boyer, Thomas Boyer and Hezekiah Harmon. Previous Events
