Robert Wilson Lindsay entered this world on October 5, 1940 in York County, South Carolina, born to his loving parents Cecelia Bowens Lindsay and Robert Edward Lindsay. He was the second son of six siblings. At the age of 83, Robert was called home to eternal rest on May 6, 2024 in Wilmington, Delaware.
His early life was accentuated by several residencies throughout North and South Carolina, where Father Lindsay would pastor church congregants. In his teenage years the family moved to Statesville, North Carolina where Robert completed his high school education at Morningside High School. Robert received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was an active member participating in church duties wherever the family served under the guidance of his mother and father. He became well known because of the anointed gift of singing that God blessed him with.
Later after graduating from high school, Robert ventured out to experience life as an adult, relocating to Providence, Rhode Island and later to Wilmington Delaware. His singing career showcased his love for Jesus. He was a member of the Gospel Ambassadors, and the Southern Gate Singers, who recorded many gospel albums.
Robert was a faithful member of Ezion Fair Baptist Church for many years where he served as the church Elder, member of the male chorus, the Henry Gospel Chorus and the church Security team.
Early in his young life Robert was married to Mercedes Anthony and from this union two sons, Deon and Derrick were born. The marriage dissolved and later in life he married Juanita Brown and from this union their son Jason was born.
