Reverend Charles Lee Massey

March 12, 1929 — August 19, 2007

In profound sorrow and with hearts filled with love and lasting memories we gather to honor our beloved Rev. Charles Lee Massey. He was the son of the late Mary Fountain born in Philadelphia, Pa. In May of 1952 he met and married the late Myrtle Mae Parker to this union two children were born, his son Raymond A. Massey and Marlene V. Stewart his son preceded him in death. Rev. Massey worked at Bryn Mawr College twenty-four years until he retired. While in Philadelphia, he became involved in many community events. However, he developed a great love for history, music, photography and traveling. When he saw the face of Jesus sickness was no more; Over in that land where happiness will always be. He shouts Hallelujah; Than God for victory as we loved you, we will miss you. In our memory you'll be near, loved, remembered, and longed for always bringing a silent tear. You left this world of sorrow, you're free from pain and harm, you now rest in peace and comfort in the blessed Savior's arms. Rev. Massey accepted the Lord and the call to Ministry early in life. He was ordained and licensed to preach the gospel wherever the lord led him. He worked earnestly helping to build many ministries throughout the Tri-State Area. He was known for his commitment and dedication to the lord. Rev. Massey always had a smile and a kind word for anyone he came in contact with. After the passing of his late wife, he had a strong desire to move to Wilmington, DE. In search for a new Church home he joined the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, where he preached, and served without reservation. He was dedicated to God and his Pastor. While serving at Rock of Ages he met many good friends, one in particular Sis. Margaret Edwards she later became his primary caregiver and companion during his illness. Sis Edwards and her family attended to Rev. Massey as if he were their own family. Rev. Massey was extremely grateful for her selfless support and dedication.
