Revalyn Roselia Smith

May 20, 1930 — July 15, 2007

Revalyn Renella Smith, daughter of the late Cardinal and Rosella Brown, was born on May 20, 1930 in Tweedside, Clarendon, Jamaica. She passed away on July 15, 2007, in Wilmington, Delaware, after a long illness. Being the eldest of ten children, her home was always a place of refuge for all her younger siblings, no matter where they were living. She grew up and spent most of her working life in Jamaica as a seamstress and migrated to the United States in 1985 where she worked as a Nurses Aide. She especially loved sewing, gardening, cooking and reading. For 40 years Revalyn was the loving and devoted wife of Horace Smith, who stood be her during her long illness. "Miss Brown", as she was affectionately called, was the true example of strength, humility, and kindness. She was a nurturer of everyone she came in contact with and was loved for her generosity and the laughter in her voice. She was Momma and Mommy to six children, Michael, Patrick, Therese, Sandra, Horace "Neil", and Dale. She was Mom mom/Grandma of ten grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Everyone she knew, including nieces and nephews, affectionately called her Miss Brown, not Auntie. Many children that took the school bus at the corner of Washington and 25th Streets, were recipients of her care and concern as she often greeted them with a snack at the end of long school days. Miss Brown will be missed by all whom had any contact with her. Revalyn is also survived by three brothers, Edgar, Millard and Alanzo; three sisters Voncell, Winsome and Coralee.
