Rev. Deborah Bernett "Super" Walker

Deborah Bernett "Super" Walker was born on January 30, 1955 to the Rev. Luther L. Walker, Jr. and the late Alice M. Fields Walker. Reverend Walker received her Angel Wings on October 16, 2017 at the family home in Middletown, DE. Deborah was afftectionately known as: Super, Rev. Super, & Mouse, received her early education at Louis L. Redding School in Middletown, DE and graduated from Middletown High School on June 6, 1973. She pursued her Associates Degree in Human Services at Delaware Technical Community College and went on to get her Bachelors in 1995 and Masters in Human Services at Springfield College in 1998. Super was employed at Hercules before becoming a fulltime employee of Dupont until her retirement on June 8, 2001, rendering 25 years of service. Deborah's additional work experience included; New Beginnings, Bethesda Child Development Center and the Delaware Department of Corrections where she was a certified Drug and Alcohol Couselor. She also served on the Appoquinmink School Board from July 1990- June 1992. Deborah began her Christian journey as a child at Trinity A.M.E. Church in Middletown, DE. Being a Preachers Kid "PK" her family served at many churches such as: Mt. Olive, Friendship/Blanco Circuit, St. George, Lewes and Emmanuel, Hartly.Deborah answered the call to Ministry in December of 1992. She preached her Trial Sermon on December 29, 1996 at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church, Hartly, and her sermon topic was: "Will the Real Christian Please Stand Up!" Deborah was ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in April of 2000 at the seat of the Delaware Annual Conference. She later was reobligated as a Itinerant Deacon with Local Orders under Bishop Richard Franklin Norris. You could always find Deborah doing what she loved the most which was Street Mnistry, Women Ministry and yes...Minstry of Information. Rev. Walker was very gifted. She wrote poems for special occassions and her latest accomplishment was writing her Autobiography "Super, A Life of Challenge and Change." She was so excited when her book was published and she ordered all of the trinketts to go along with it. Deborah was preceded in death by her mother, Alice M. Walker, Brother, Donald "Scrappy" Walker, Sr., Sister, Dionne C. Walker; Grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Lee L. Walker, Sr.; Lillian B. Young, and Rev. Herman T. Moody, Sr. Rev. Walker leaves to cherish her memories: her Father; Rev. Luther L. Walker, Jr.; (3) Sisters; Gloria Williams, Patricia L. Walker & Lois M. Walker; (1) Brother; Rev. Luther L. "Cy" Walker, III(Vienna); (2) Uncle/Brothers; Earl Jordan, & Rev. John Jordan (Carmen); (6) Aunts; Thelma Queen, Lillian B. Young, Ardie Todd (Devon) Alberta Walker, Carolyn Williams (Henry) & Marie Suggs(Calvin). (2) Uncles; Earl Walker, Sr. (Leola) & James Walker. (1) Sister in Law; Trina L. Walker; (7) Nephews; Darnell Williams, Andre Walker, Brian Walker, Luther L. "CJ" Walker, Donald "Scooby" Walker (Brandy), Andre Reed & DiAnte Reed. (3) Nieces;Marsha Williams, Dr. TaQuina Warren(Jamar) and Alleeah Reed.God Children; Tommara Byas, Sheena Williams, Alleeah Reed, Terry Cale and Luther L. "CJ" Walker, IV. Special Cousins; Tina Williams, Shawnzetta Suggs & Malik Young. 4 Great Nieces, 4 Great Nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
