God in His infinite wisdom and divine love called Raymond Byard Allen, III home to his eternal resting place on May 29, 2022. Raymond had many nicknames which included: Pop, Porkchop, Mick, Tooie, TootBoy, Fruit, and Ray, but was affectionately known by most as Toot. Toot was born to Stephanie and Raymond Allen, Jr. on June 10, 1973 in Wilmington, Delaware.
He received his early education in the Colonial School District and then later in the Appoquinimink School District. Toot was employed at Governor Bacon Health Center for over 10 years and later fulfilled his heart's passion at Advanced Student Transportation. He didn't just transport the school children back and forth to school, he took advantage of any opportunity to drive the bus for any reason such as sports events, weddings, loops, Firefly, private rentals and etc. Toot often shared stories about how most of the children loved on him, in fact, he said there was one little girl who told him that she didn't have a dad, but if she did she would want her dad to be just like Toot. She even began calling him dad and even introduced Toot to her mom as her dad. At Advanced Student, Toot wore many hats. He wasn't just a driver, he was also an organizer, advisor, trainer, honorary dispatcher and most of all the "Human GPS." It was at Advanced Student where he met his best friend Al. Those two became inseparable, where you would see one, you most certainly would see the other. They even used Al's bus as Toot's office and people didn't hesitate to meet there in order to discuss things with Toot.
If you were given the opportunity to know Toot, you would know he was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed making people laugh as he did so effortlessly. He had the innate ability to help people view things from an alternate perspective because instead of focusing on the negative, he'd ultimately help you focus on the positive.
Toot's love for children was undeniable, especially when it came to his niece Syliayah and nephew Elijah. They could do no wrong, in truth, even if they were wrong he'd become their Johnnie Cochran, and if he could have bought them the world he would have. Family meant so much to Toot, two weeks before he passed, he would say to all of his visitors, "I'm having a barbecue on Saturday and you're invited." Toot got his barbecue even though he picked a day that turned out to be one of the hottest, it still didn't stop his family and friends from showing up to share their love with him. Toot was the "Grill Master," and when he became ill, he made sure to pass the torch to his baby sister Lisa and he still continued to train her all the way up to the day of the barbecue. While Toot loved barbecuing, he also enjoyed fishing, crabbing, watching horse races, golf, football and he was an avid gamer.
Toot accepted and confessed Jesus as his Lord while surrounded by his family. Immediately after he asked if we could sing his grandmother's song "This Little Light of Mine." As weak as he was he even joined in as we sang. His favorite songs were "Something About The Name of Jesus," "This Little Light of Mine" and "Walk Around Heaven."
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents George and Louise Sadler, paternal grandfather Raymond Allen, two aunts Andrea & Catherine Allen and one uncle Kennard Sadler.
Toot leaves to cherish his memories, his parents Stephanie and Raymond Allen, his sisters Elaine Russell, Tamaya Allen and Lisa Allen-Todd (Norman), one nephew Elijah Allen-Todd, four nieces, Syliayah Allen-Todd, Kylana Payne, Garshae Huggins and Rovecca Redwine, grandmother Pearl Allen, devoted aunt Elizabeth Boyer, devoted cousins: Garfield Brown and Devin Hackett, devoted friends: Allan Seymour, Ed Drake, Wanda McGregor and Shanarah El Roberts and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
