Ray Anthony Howard

Ray Anthony Howard was born on August 22, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama to Mary and Raymond

Howard. He passed on November 5 th , 2023 at accent care in Wilmington, DE.

Ray received his early childhood education while still in Birmingham until the family moved to

Wilmington, Delaware in 1966. He graduated from Delawar Highschool in 1972.

After high school, ray worked for the Dupont Company in Deepwater, New Jersey for three years, some

odd jobs, before he worked at Chrysler Company for two years. He joined Local 199 in 1978 as a laborer

until he retired in 2014.

Living in Dunleith, Ray and his brother Mike met a lot of their friends, and are still great friends to this

day, although some of their friends have passed.

Ray loved his sons and grandson. They loved their dad and poppop. Ray was the person who would help

you do what’s needed with no hesitation. He was sought after a lot in the summer for the neighborhood

BBQ man for the grill and his secret BBQ sauce. His favorite pastimes were cooking, watching sports,

drinking beer, and hanging with family and friends.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Raymond Howard.

Ray is survived by his companion of fifty years, Delores Boatwright, their two sons, Anthony Ray Howard

of Laurel, Maryland, and Andrew Lamont Howard (Marlon) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and one

grandson; Malcom of Philadelphia, one brother; Mikke Howard of Delaware, two sisters; Lisa Caldwell-

Howard (Lincoln) of Delaware, and Tracy Wise (Cliff) of West Grove, Pennsylvania, and a host of nieces,

nephews, cousins and friends.
