Mr. Randolph "Randy" Maurice Savage, a native of Philadelphia, PA and resident of New Castle County, Delaware, went home to be with our Lord on May 13, 2020. He made his transition at age 82 while receiving medical treatment at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware due complications from the COVID-19 virus.
Randy was born on July 19, 1937 in Salisbury, Maryland to the late James Savage and Marie Buel Savage. At a young age, his family relocated to Philadelphia, PA, where he lived most of his life. He also at a young age accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a member of several churches. Randy was an incredibly quiet, smart, kind and a free spirit who loved the city streets of Philadelphia, PA. As a teenager, he learned how to play the trumpet and as an adult joined a jazz band with his older brother. Randy could recite historical facts and name all the major jazz musicians on command. In 2017, he became a resident of Regal Heights Rehabilitation Center where he enjoyed his comfortable life of doing many books of word search puzzles, eating Oreo cookies, drinking Pepsi soda and watching television.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Hedy Savage; brothers Jimmy Savage and Lonnie Savage; nephew Lonnie Savage, Jr.
Randy leaves behind to his sister and caregiver, Diane Carter-Wilks of Lakeland, Florida; 2 daughters: Ms. Dawn Savage of South Carolina and Ms. Raquel Savage of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 4 grandchildren, 2 nieces: Ms. Lisa Knight of Kensington, New Hampshire and Rev. Dr. Tresa L. Coston of New Castle, Delaware; 2 nephews: Mr. Derrick Savage and Mr. James "Jimmy Mac" Savage; and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service is planned for a later date to be determined by the family.
