Peggy Foeman

May 11, 1952 — September 24, 2022

Peggy Ellen Foeman, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Foeman, Jr.

Peggy was born on May 11, 1952 in Lewes, Delaware to the late Betty Hadley and Evans Wilson, Sr. She was raised by her loving grandmother, Grace Elzey, whose influence guided her into becoming the loving and caring mother that she was.

While Peggy received her early education in the Laurel School System, her true passion came from making sure everyone was alright. She was hired by relatives and friends to care for their children, mothers, and loved ones on a consistent basis. They felt comfortable leaving their loved ones with her. If there was ever a time when you were down, she always knew how to uplift you. And when she wasn't helping others, you could always find her at one of her daughters' school functions. That would include going on field trips, volunteering in the classroom, and attending parent and teacher conferences.

True definition of motherhood, Peggy Ellen Foeman:

Every Sunday was special because she prepared the best Sunday dinners, and she loved having family over for Christmas. She would have turkey, ham, chitterlings, collard greens, candied yams, stuffing, macaroni, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and cakes. We always had a good time and she was always the perfect hostess. And she even sold dinners to the people in the neighborhood.

Another great passion of Peggy's was reading romantic novels. She was an educator in the community by giving away bags and bags of books when she had finished reading them. And she loved being entertained by Judge Mathis, Judge Judy, and Maury Povich.

On Saturday mornings, she would play Motown music while we were cleaning the house. She played Clean Up Woman, Misty Blue, Let's Just Kiss and Say Goodbye, and many more. She had unconditional love for all her children and grandchildren but especially the grandsons. No matter what they did, she always supported them. Peggy was affectionately known in the neighborhood as "grandmom."

Peggy enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida, Mississippi, Maryland, and Canada. And she always looked forward to attending the Nanticoke Pow Wow every year in September and "How Sweet the Sound" a gospel competition and other events at the Merriam Theater.

You would not know it, but for many years, Peggy struggled with her health. She fought the best fight. Peggy has touched our lives in many ways. We honor her legacy and dedication.
