Olive M. Walker

Olive Mary Walker was born on August 26, 1940 to Robert J. Sturgis, and Mary Beulah Sturgis. She

departed this life on November 15, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Ollie” as she was affectionately known, received her education at Mary IC Williams elementary school,

Bayard Middle School, and James Groves School. She then went on to work at Webs Cleaner, she was a

head chef for 25 years and John Wanamakers and a Nutritional worker at William Penn High school.

Growing up she was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She loved jigsaw and crossword

puzzles, playing pity pat, dancing, singing, cooking, shopping, and spending time with grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. Sturgis, and Mary Beulah Sturgis, her children, Paula

B. Sturgis, and Charles J. Baise, maternal grandparents, George W. Haynes, and Bertha Reed, paternal

grandparents, Robert L. and Nora Sturgis, siblings, Louis H. Sturgis, Cora E. Sturgis, Shelia D. Sturgis, and

Deborah S. Gregory.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, James Wilbert Baise, Jr., Adrienne R. Walker (George),

and Jeanette T. Marsh (David), siblings, George R. Sturgis (Nellie), Robert E. Sturgis, Lawrence A. Sturgis

(Cynthia), McClede B. Sturgis Blake (Marvin), sister in law, Marv Sturgis, grandchildren, Charles Baise, Jr.,

Jovan R. Koger (Therin), Edward E.P Baise, Canaan K. Baise, Aquila C. Baise (Erica), Shanetta M. Charles

(Michael), and Kyra L. Baise, and a host of family and friends.
