Oaklyn Cardell Crumpler, Jr.

February 14, 1972 — July 23, 2023

Oaklyn Cardell Crumpler Jr. was born on February 14, 1972 in Wilmington, Delaware to Oaklyn Crumpler Sr. and Tanya Crumpler. Affectionately known as “Little O” and/or “Oak” he transitioned from this life on July 23, 2023 surrounded by family and close friends.


Oak attended and graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1991, where he played and excelled in varsity football as a center and defensive tackle making All State First Conference, being featured in the “Who’s Who” in American High School Football, and was selected to play in the Blue Gold All Star game. In addition to all his accolades he was offered many scholarships including one from West Point University. After high school he worked for Red Clay Consolidated School District as a custodian for many years before being promoted to Chief Custodian. With his love for children, he later changed positions and became a paraprofessional. His love for children led him to become a football coach where he coached at John Dickinson High School in addition to the Wilmington Titans and the City Raptors. Oak enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children. His house was the go-to place to party, play cards, and eat. Oak was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Onzia and Gertha Crumpler, maternal grandparents, Alberta and John Torrence, his aunt Terri Kristi, and friend Jamal “Itchy” Mathews.


Oak leaves to cherish his memory to his wife Kendra Payne Crumpler, his children Onzia “Dog”, Deja, M.J., OMeir, Bri, Nyla, his parents Oakyn Sr. and Tanya, his sisters Dana and Neika one brother Damon, one grandson Azai, and godson Nikyi, his niece Kira in which he was a father figure to, niece Aniyah, nephew AJ, brother-cousin John, sister-cousin Nikki. In addition to brothers Buck Jones, Devonne, Stink, Gar, Mar, T-Y, Stevie, Derrick, Dennis, KB, Makim, Dupper, Henny ,Man Man, Mel Mac, and Gundy.
