Mother Norma Elaine Cooper was born on June 17, 1948 to the late Edward Collins and the late Edna Wise in Pocomoke City, Maryland. Norma was called upon by the Lord to come home on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
Norma received her high school diploma in Worcester County Maryland. She moved to Delaware to raise her family. Norma worked as a Nurse’s Aide with the Visiting Nurses Association for more than 15 years, where she displayed her compassion for caring, and helping people. She cared for her late Mother Edna until Edna’s passing.
Mother Norma was a very loving passionate true woman of God. She dedicated her life serving God and diligently seeking Him. Norma was a committed member of the Holiness First Church of Lord Jesus Christ, serving faithfully on the Mother’s Auxiliary Board and writing the Church Announcements on her laptop computer she loved so much.
Our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and cousin loved all her family with every ounce of her soul, and we sincerely loved her in return with all our hearts. She touched so many people showing the love and kindness of God. Mother Norma had so many passions that brought joy to her heart, writing poems for the Lord, sharing them with family and friends. Norma was a Poet.
She loved cooking and feeding everyone. Her pound cakes were the best! Not to mention everything she cooked was delicious. Mother loved to play the piano and sing old church hymns, a glorious star in the making. She would call us to say, “Listen to the new song I can play, Jesus loves me this I know…” We would gratefully listen to her sing and play the new song in heart.
Mother Norma was a fashionista--she loved her hats, suits, shoes and handbags. She would tell us “Norma, Sheila, Shanell you all don’t need that pocketbook, I’ll take it.” She’d laugh and smile.
Mother Norma was married to the late David Lee Cooper and was also preceded in death by her brother James DeShields.
Mother Norma leaves behind five beautiful children, Norma Anderson (Brian), David Lee Cooper (Taliah), Sheila Collins (Roger), Shanell Robinson (Rick) and Leon Cooper (Courtney); three loving sisters Geraldine Cropper (Alex), Bernice Corbin and Sarah Matthews; brother Edward Collins; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
