Nila Monyette Waters Crain was born on May 8, 1982, to Stanley O. Waters Jr. and Darlene H. Waters (Holt). On April 2, 2025, in Northeast, Maryland, God called her home.
A proud graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 2000, Nila shined as a track and field star, excelling in shot put and discus. It was on the field in 1999 that she met the love of her life, Willie Crain. Their bond blossomed into a beautiful marriage that was celebrated for 18 years this past February 10.
Nila earned her bachelor's degree from Delaware State University in 2004 and went on to receive her master's degree from Wilmington University. A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Nila lived life boldly and unapologetically. Among her many passions were pole dancing, spa days, and traveling with her family.
Her greatest love was her family—especially her daughter, Diavian A. Crain, the light of her life. Nila was a nurturing and devoted mother who made Diavian her top priority and poured love and strength into every aspect of her family life.
Nila was preceded in death by her father, Stanley O. Waters Jr.; her grandparents, Peggy Waters and Stanley O. Waters Sr.; and her great-grandparents, Andrew and Millie Ray and Freddy and Marie Waters.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Willie Crain; their beloved daughter, Diavian A. Crain; her devoted mother, Darlene H. Waters; two sisters, Gabrielle D. Waters and Chrystalia Hampton; one brother, Evan Q. Waters; and her godfather, Carl Ray. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.
Nila will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and ability to make others feel loved, safe, and secure. Her radiant spirit and boundless love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
