Mother Ruby L. Wiggins

November 7, 1929 — November 26, 2018

Ruby L. Wiggins, age 89, returned to her heavenly home on November 26, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God proved to be an inspiration to all who loved her. Ruby was born to the late Robert L. and Isabell Collins-McRae, in McRae, GA on November 7, 1929. She attended Wesley Chapel C. M. C. in Rhine, GA from an early age. She received her education in Milan, GA and after graduating high school she left the south and moved north to Wilmington, DE to be with family. It was in Delaware that she began corresponding with a young soldier, Leonard A. Wiggins by letter. They fell in love and later married. From this union, came three children: Ruthena, Leonard Jr and Denise. Ruby raised her children with patience, discipline and most of all love. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to live a Christian life where prayer was paramount. Ruby was known as a prayer warrior, and her soul stirring prayers will continue to cover her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for years to come. Ruby was employed for 40 years as a Surgical Tech for Christiana Care where she retired in 1991. She was kind and soft-spoken, and her dedication was evident in how she served her God, loved her family and her church. Ruby was a founding member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, DE under the pastorate of the late Rev. R. H. Bailey and where Rev. W. Carver Brown, I is now the current pastor. She was a Deaconess, and ultimately a Church Mother; she was a faithful member for 62 years and will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard A. Wiggins, Sr; her son, Leonard A. Wiggins, Jr; her parents, Robert L and Isabell; her brothers Robert Lee, Juniest, and L.C; her sisters Roneziel, Vinnia, Isabella, Abby, Ruthenia and Samantha. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Ruthena Napier (Andrew) and Denise James (John); her grandchildren, McKenley Napier (Geamarice), Carl Napier, Leonard Wiggins III (Naja), Lauretta Mayo (Gary), Shawnice Lockhart (Ronald), and Monique James; her great-grandchildren, KaNyah, Aziz, Jameir, Michiah, Kendra, Asa, Ivery, Hannah, ArieLynn and Halana; her goddaughter, Shirley and a host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
