An Amazing, Loving, Kind, Virtuous Woman, Margaret Ann Johnson Davis, age 79, was born March 31, 1936, to the late Charles Leonard Johnson, Sr., and Margarette Haughton Johnson in Chestertown, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Nathaniel G. Davis, Sr. She was called home to be with the Lord, while peacefully resting in the care of Seasons Hospice at Christiana on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015.
She attended school in Wilmington, Delaware, where she received her education in the public school system.
A mother to nine children, whom she loved with respect and cared unconditionally for each and every one, which only a committed mother's love could do.
A sister to her siblings with a bond of unity and love that truly only they knew the extended reach thereof.
Mom-Mom Margaret was the Greatest Grandmother and Great-Grandmother in the eyes of her grandchildren. She was absolutely loving and caring, the kind of grandmother who would say yes to fun stuff that the parents would say no to. Mom-Mom was very athletic, and trained her grandchildren in the art of physical walking; she never drove, but as told by the grands, would walk them seemingly "like, from Delaware to Maryland or even Philly, and not even break a sweat."
Margaret worked as a personal care provider, and was also skilled in the art of home decorating as a gifted painter and wallpaper specialist. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the United States. Mother was an ardent yard sale attendee, and even hosted many with her business partner, the late Sylvia Evans.
Affectionately known as Mother Davis, she was a loyal and dedicated member of Evangelistic Temple of Truth Church for years. Her devotion to the work of the Lord was exhibited by untiring labors of love. Committed to service, Mother Davis was a member of the Mothers Board and assisted her church in any way that she possibly could.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Nathaniel Sr.; siblings, Velma Johnson, Charles L. Johnson, Jr., Wilbur E. Johnson, Ruth Wallace, and Naomi Satterfield; and children, Donald E. Davis, Anthony L. Davis, and Sir Wil Laurus, Sr.
Precious memories will be cherished by her children, Nathaniel G. Davis, Jr., Sharon Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Paula Putney, Bishop Ellis Davis, Sr. (Patricia) of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Mary C. Davis, and Elder Dion D. Davis; her sisters, Mary L. Johnson, Lorraine Waters of Chestertown, Maryland, and Nancy A. Bell; sister-in-law, Gloria Johnson of Chestertown, Maryland; brother-in-law, Donald Satterfield; goddaughter, Karen Lockhart; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and the Evangelistic Temple of Truth Church Family.
