Miriam Torres

February 1, 1936 — March 19, 2014

Passed away on March 19, 2014 in Emily Bissell Hospital. She received her education at Brightmeyer Elementary School and graduated from Northern High School in Detroit, Michigan. She had a love for helping the sick and became a nurse. She worked and retired as an OR Nurse at Riverside Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She then worked as a nurse at a Women's Health facility in Stanton, DE. On April 1, 1952, she married the late Tiburcio Torres, Sr. Out of their union came four boys and one girl; Tiburcio, Jr., Carlos, Victor, Jose and Genara. She was predeceased by both parents; her husband, Tiburcio Torres, Sr.; her daughter, Genara Torres; and three sisters,! Lovie Shaw, Sarah Ambrister, and Jeanette Ambrister. She leaves to celebrate her legacy five siblings: Lillian Jackson of Detroit, Michigan, Dorothy Shaw of Detroit, Michigan, Gwen Brockman of St. Claire Shore, Michigan, Glanville Ambrister, Jr. Of Detroit, Michigan, and Alexander Ambrister of Bellville, Michigan; four children: Tiburcio, Jr., Carlos, and Jose all of Wilmington, Delaware and Victor of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren: Sonya, Fagan, Arthur, Tiburcio, III., Ivan, Virginia, Darrell, Victor, Jr., Mary, Andrea, and Tia; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also shared an amazing sisterly bond with long-time friends Ms. Vivian and Ms. Edna Peebles. Read Miriam Torres's Obituary and Guestbook.
