Minister Willie Allen Canty

September 4, 1962 — March 20, 2008

the younger of two children bom to the late Gloria J. Hynson-Canty and the late Sensi Willie A. Canty, Sr., on September 4th, 1962 in Wilmington, Delaware. Willie attended the Wilmington Public Schools and graduated from Concord High School, he then matriculated to Delaware State College where he majored in Vocal Music Education. While at DSC he participated in many activities; Director of the DSC Gospel Choir, Student Director of the Concert Choir, President of the Modeling Club, Member of the Student Advisory Board and a Miaka (Sweetheart AKA's). Willie has received many certificates and awards for his musical abilities. He placed 1st at the Black Music Caucus of New York during the National Collegiate Gospel Choir Competition, "The Most Outstanding Original Composition" for his song "He's Coming Soon", Raised from birth at the Faith Tabernacle United Holy Church, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a young age. Gifted and anointed by God, Willie began playing the organ at the age of 16. A Director, songwriter, and organist he has been the Minister of Music for several churches in the Tri-State area. He also served as Junior Usher, Youth & Young Adult Choir member, President of the Young People's Holy Association (YPHA), Interior & Building Committee Member, Scholarship Representative, Delaware Sub-District, Director for Praise Ministries Choir, currently Vice President YPHA, Delaware Sub-District and Minister of Music for Faith Tabernacle UHC and Lee-Haven United Methodist Church. Willie was a former Model for the Main Line Modeling Agency and was employed at The House of Wright Mortuary and Wright's Flowers of Distinction. Father of Tynisha Michelle Cotton; Brother to Pastor Cynthia M. CantyBarnett( Ronald), two nieces he loved, Cynkia M. Bowden and Chante' M. BowdenThompson; Great niece and nephew, Zipporah & Memphis; Godfather of Marcus Marsh, Desmond Cook (Poppie), JaQuine Williams (The Prophet), Michael Brooks (Bear), Zykerra Brown and Charne Jackson, aunts, uncles, cousins and also extended family, Willie, Glenn, Niokie and Marvin.
