Mildred Evelyn Rider-Johnson

April 20, 1930 — March 21, 2018

Mildred E.(Rider)Johnson was born on April 20, 1930 in Smyrna, Delaware to the late Walter J. Rider and the late Gertrude(Green)Rider. She passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Mildred graduated from Delaware State College with a B.A. Degree as a Dietician. She also received a special award in Fashion design. She retired from the Wilmington School District as a Food Service Supervisor. Mildred joined Scott African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and faithfully served for years as a Deaconess and Acolyte. She received the First Annual Pastor's Legends Award in 2010. Mildred was a vivacious Red Hatter, outgoing member of the Wilmington Senior Center and had the pleasure of traveling extensively with her longtime friend, Betty(Pendleton)Hodges, until her illness. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Michelle Johnson; only grandson, Micheal Johnshon and sister Alice Beulah(Rider)Landry. Mildred leaves to cherish her memories, one brother, Walter E. Rider and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; special mention of her "second daughter" in love, Danielle Walker; best friends, Ethelene Ringgold and Mamie Mason; special coustin, Doreen Warren and her previous Pastor, Rev. Gloria Snipes and long-time friend and schoolmate, Rev. Herman Congo.
