Mary Ann Morton-Hayman

February 26, 1935 — September 3, 2020

On September 3, 2020, Mary Ann Morton-Hayman gained her wings and entered into eternal rest. Mary was born in Lynchburg, VA to Kermit Roosevelt Fitch and Victoria Height Fitch on February 26, 1935.

Mary attended school in Lynchburg, VA. Upon earning her degree, she pursued a career in nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). After relocating to Delaware, Mary married Robert Morton, Sr. and together they had four children - Robert, Linda, James and Glynnis.

Later, Mary met her husband, Arthur C. Hayman, in 1969 and cultivated a beautiful blended family. As the matriarch of the family, she was cherished immensely. She carried her family with displays of love, strength, and wisdom that will be sorely missed.

Mary's chosen place of worship was New Hope Baptist Church. She declared herself a child of God and appreciated every blessing bestowed upon her. Mary had many testimonies to His love and mercy, which made her a believer.

If Mary was not in church, you could find her spending time with her husband, watching Westerns on TV, or knitting an afghan. She loved her life and everyone in it.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Victoria Fitch; her brothers George and Joseph Fitch; her children, James Morton and Linda McClendon; and her grandsons, Eli Brown and Anthony Faulkner.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Arthur C. Hayman; her son, Robert Morton; and her caring, devoted daughter, Glynnis Harris. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Morton, Sharon Elias, Desaundrea Pusey, Jonathan Morton, Melica Sutton, Samara Harris, John "Dacy" Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends.
