Luvinia was born on February 16, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Henrietta Wyatt & Thomas Belton. She passed on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 460 Bethune Drive, Wilmington, DE 19801, her place of residence.
Luvinia, lovingly called by several nicknames: Vinnie, Beanie and Baint, received her education in the Philadelphia Public School system. After school she worked at Gladd Brothers in Paoli, Pennsylvania for 7 years. Subsequently, she received her certification in Early Childhood Education from Cabrini College and worked at Kencrest Early Learning Center. Later she moved to Delaware and worked as an Office Manager for Target, from which she retired.
While living in Philadelphia, Luvinia met and married Melvin Dorsey, Sr., and bore 3 children: Melvin Jr, Dawn, and Markelle. In 1999, after moving to Delaware, she met and married Charlie Moye.
Luvinia was a faithful member of Oasis of Praise Ministries. She had many hobbies and interests. Crosswords, puzzles, crocheting, flower arranging, creating beautiful keepsakes, collecting figurines: Angels, M&M characters and elephants. Let’s not forget her massive DVD collection! If you wanted to watch a movie, she likely had it. Her favorite saying was “I gave them that Dorsey stare”. If you’ve seen it, you know exactly what she meant.
Luvinia was preceded in death by her parents (Henrietta Wyatt & Thomas Belton), her grandson (Tymel Fullwood). She leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband of 25 years (Charlie Moye), her children (Melvin Dorsey Jr., Dawn Dorsey-Bradley (Gil Bradley), Markelle Dorsey), her siblings (Hester Mish, Elizabeth Patterson, Betty Zimmerman, and John Belton), her grandchildren (Krista Ward, Melika Ward, Mayim Gillis, Arieus Dorsey, and Chamion Bradley), great grandchildren (Amirah Ward and Quamir Ward) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
