Linda Singletary, affectionately known as Lindsay, was born on July 20, 1944 in Hertford, North Carolina to the loving parents, Queenie Harrell and the late William A. Harrell. Linda was preceded in death by her twin sister Glenda, and her husband, John Singletary. In 1952, the family moved to New York where Linda attended Franklin K. Lane High School. While in New York, Linda had an extensive career at Bloomingdales in sales for over 20 years. During this time, Linda met and fell in love with John Singletary, and they were married for 29 years, until his death on April 22, 1993. Linda bore no children of her own, however, she was blessed with three stepdaughters whom she loved dearly. Linda was known for her feisty attitude, but soft heart. She was very meticulous about her appearance. Her make-up, hair, and 4-inch nails had to be flawless. She religiously watched game shows and could have easily competed amongst the greatest contestants. Her favorite past-times were playing cards, visiting casinos and solving word puzzles. Linda enjoyed preparing her favorite chili recipe. Evelyn recalls how they engaged I a friendly competition to see who prepared the best dish. Linda leaves to cherish her memories, her sister/best friend; Evelyn Harrell, of Middletown, Delaware; three stepdaughters; Jacqueline Lemon-Denton of Jamaica, NY, Andrea Singletary of Brooklyn, NY and Joyce Utsey-Morgan of Warminster, PA, two nephews, who were like sons; Luis (Louie) Harrell and Dalian (Dink) Harrell; one niece, Felita Harrell, four great nieces; Destiny Harrell, Britani Harrell, Kei-Leia Tate and Amanda Pascal, six grandchildren; LaToya Staley-Coley, Keisha Lemon, Teron Utsey, Julius "Rah-man" Holmes, Tiffany Haymer and Tekeiya Morgan, eight great-grands; LaQuan Staley, Dwaynne (DJ) Coley, Lea Coley, Teron Utsey, Jr., Kaylyn Dhaiti, Kasmirah Utsey, Elliana Utsey and Drake Utsey, and a host of relatives and friends.
