Linda Carolyn Watts

June 19, 1952 — February 18, 2024

Linda Carolyn Watts (nee Davis), age 71, the second child of the late Deacon Maxie and Frances Wootten Davis

was born on June 19, 1952 in Wilmington, Delaware. She departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2024 after

a lengthy stay at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family members and friends.

Linda was raised in Wilmington, Delaware in the acclaimed community of Dunleith on Oval Circle. She

received her early education from the Dunleith Community School, Colwyck Middle School and graduated

from DeLaWarr Senior High School in 1970. Linda participated in several talent shows and was a lead singer

for the Four Souls of Wilmington, Delaware.

Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist

Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Ivan N. Collins where she sang in the Young Adult Choir.

After graduation, Linda worked various jobs as she became a homemaker; taking care of her children. Linda

decided to return to school to further her education. She attended and graduated from Delaware Technical

and Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree. Later Linda received her baccalaureate

degree from Wilmington University in Behavioral Sciences.

Linda was employed by the State of Delaware at Delaware Technical and Community College as a Financial Aid

Manager until her retirement in 2014.

Linda met and was united in holy matrimony to her late husband, Thomas Watts in 1990.

Linda’s favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends as the cook on several occasions

where she hosted many family gatherings. During the Christmas holiday, the family always looked forward

to her gifts of mac n’ cheese, extra-large chocolate chip cookies and Sassafras tea. She enjoyed watching her

favorite football team; the Philadelphia Eagles. She also enjoyed music, dancing, crocheting, sci-fi movies,

drama shows, and political conversations. Linda enjoyed collecting a vast assortment of porcelain dolls, a

variety of butterfly objects and angels. Some of the items she collected where from QVC, the home shopping

network; she saw her delivery person as her best friend.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two siblings, Maxie Davis, Jr., and

Ricardo Daniel Davis, and her aunts and uncles.

Linda leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Keitha Franchez Davis of New Castle; two sons;

Victor Davis (Tarnisha) of Newark, Ernest Murray (Crystal) of Newark. Seven grandchildren;

Jonathan Grimes, Matthew Jackson, III (Rhonda), Savannah Murray, Jada Murray, Madison Davis,

Alisa Murray and James Murray and four great-grandchildren. Three sisters; Brenda Davis-Simpson

(Donald) of Pasadena, Maryland, Detra Davis Cooper of Wilmington, Arletha Davis Allen (Robert) of

Lincoln University, Pennsylvania and one brother; Tracy Christopher Davis of Wilmington, a brother-in-law,

Michael Watts of Wilmington, one aunt, Marie Goings of Dillon, South Carolina and a host of loving nieces,

nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
