Leslie Yvonne Chitwood

Leslie Yvonne (Lewis) Chitwood passed peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Leslie was born in 1956 to Samuel Lavern and Bernice Inez (Segers) Lewis in Abilene, Texas. In the summer of 1967, Leslie and her family moved to Stanton, Delaware. Leslie attended John Dickinson High School class of '75.

Leslie had a deep love for her children and grandchildren and a great deal of her focus was placed on them. She always made sure to tell them how much she loved them. She had a dry wit and sarcastic sense of humor, which she used to make the best of situations often surprising and keeping her family and doctors on their toes. It didn't matter what time of the year it was, Leslie loved all things Halloween.

Besides her parents, Leslie was also predeceased by her step-mother Jean J. Lewis, her fiance Kenneth Fleenor, her best friend Carol Hudak, and her cat Roxie.

Leslie is survived by her sons, Samuel David Lewis (Christine) and Nicolas Robert Brown. She has three siblings, Bruce Lewis (Pauline), Linda Lee Lewis, and Brent Alan Lewis (Rex Yaniello). She has five grandchildren: Cory Lewis, Samuel John Lewis, Lainey Lewis, Aiden Brown, and Peyton Lewis, and her niece Sarah Lewis.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Srujitha Murukutla and her team at the Tunnel Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Jude Ediae, and a special thank you to the staff in the Beebe ICU.
