Leonard L. "Buck" Williams

January 17, 1964 — November 18, 2014

Leonard L. Williams Jr, age 50, affectionately known as "Buck" passed away of natural causes at his home in Wilmington, Delaware on November 18, 2014. Predeceased by his parents, The Honorable Leonard L. Williams and Dolores R. Williams, Leonard began his education at Tower Hill School, later transferring to The Tatnall School where he earned his high school diploma. After attending Howard University in Washington, D.C., he pursued a military career and was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps, Leonard went on to earn both his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and his Master of Science in Administration of Justice from Wilmington University. Over the ensuing years, Leonard worked for the DuPont Company, Chase Manhattan Bank, Chemical Bank, and the City of Wilmington. In 1992, his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he started BWI Paint Contractors, a sole proprietorship specializing in commercial and residential painting. After obtaining his Bachelors and Masters degrees, he went on to work for the Delaware Public Defender's Office, and most recently for Affinity Health and Medical Systems where he served as Site Coordinator. Leonard had a strong competitive spirit that was rooted in his childhood athletics. He played peewee football with the P.S. DuPont Trojans on the team that won the division championship that year. At Tatnall he ran track, wrestled, played basketball and excelled at football, where he went on to earn the distinction of All-Conference at the positions of Offensive Tackle and Defensive Tackle, and started both ways on Tatnall's first State Tournament team. Leonard's strong competitive spirit ultimately transcended sport and permeated all aspects of his life. Leonard had a passion for music, politics, current events, professional sports, fishing, skiing, boating and cooking. His gregarious spirit and quick humor made him lovable as a son and brother to his two siblings and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Leonard was a genuine, warm, kind and humble man. Leonard is survived by his sister Dena H. Williams of Orlando, Florida, his brother Garrett V. Williams of Silver Spring, Maryland, his devoted Aunts, Barbara G. Booker of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Grace W. Martin of Wilmington, Delaware and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and freinds.
