Larry B. Pipes, Sr.

Larry Bernard Pipes, Sr., 71 of Wilmington, Delaware; transitioned from this life to eternal life on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by family. Larry was born September 18, 1949 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Homer and Margaret Pipes. He was raised in the Southbridge Community of Wilmington, Delaware.
Larry received his formal education at Howard High School in Wilmington, Delaware. After leaving high school he joined the United States Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he went to work at Wiltex where he met his wife Janice (Broadway) Pipes of 52 years. Larry also worked at Abex Steel for more than 10 years and Delmarva Power for 23 years until he retired in July 2010.
Larry was a member of the Diamond State Van Club and was known as "The Mayor". He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, watching football and spending time with his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Margaret Pipes, his brothers Homer (Snooks) Pipes, Charles (Buddy) Pipes, and his sister Barbara Benson.
He leaves to cherish his loving and devoted wife Janice D. Pipes. Three children Tracy Martin (Nathan); Larry Jr. (Rashida); and Andrea. Four siblings William (Florence); Carolyn Pipes; Leonard Pipes; (Renee) and Juanita Pipes. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
