Lamotte S. Chandler

Lamotte S. Chandler better known as "Spuddy" was born on December 19th, 1960 to Barbara Chandler Dozier and the late Clarence Murphy in Wilmington, Delaware. Lamotte transitioned on August the 3rd, 2024 in Wilmington, Delaware. 


Spuddy attended Howard Vocational High School where he received his formal education. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1979 where he got to travel the world until 1986 when he was honorably discharged. After serving his country, Lamotte was employed at Chrysler Corporation. After his employment with Chrysler, he worked as a Commercial Oil Delivery Driver for Cochran Oil and Propane. 


Lamotte, was a devoted member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where he was active within his congregation for many years. 

Spuddy enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, fishing, cooking, grilling, and playing chess with his good friends. He was a master chess player. Spuddy enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his family and loved ones. 


Lamotte, was preceded in death by his Father, Clarence Murphy, Maternal Grandfather and Grandmother, William S. Chandler and Martha Chandler, and Step Father Willie Dozier, and his brother Sarafian Smith. 


Spuddy is survived by his loving Mother Barbara Chandler Dozier, Son Shannon Cooper (Tanya), His two loving granddaughters Shanni Cooper and Taniyah Cooper whom he loved with all his heart. His brothers, Brian Chandler (Cynthia), Larmar Chandler (Bonnie), His Special sister Diane Phillips, His brother Robert Brown, Clarence S. Murphy Jr., His Sisters Miriam Murphy, and Florence Murphy, Mali Wright, Larae Wright- Barner, and Taza Burroughs. 


He leaves to cherish in his memory, his loving and devoted Fiancé Trina Lindsey, and step son Nyair Stanford, His aunts Joan Walker Hunter (Rev. E. Hunter) Josephine Phillips and Special Aunt Shirley Price and a host of loving Nieces and Nephews, Haamid, Devrin, Tiffany, Brian Jr., Melonee, India, and Devynn. He loved them all dearly. 


Lamotte, will be truly missed by a host of cousins and special friends. Kurt, Everett Smith, Eddy, Chris, Escro, Maine, Marv, Deon, Andre, Johnny, and Mills. 


He will forever be in our hearts. Lamotte was truly devoted to his family and his friends.
