Lalita (Lita) was born on July 8,1962 in Wilmington, Delaware to Fred & Mable Young.
Lita received her early childhood education from George Gray Elementary School, Warner Middle School, and was a graduate of Howard Career Center (Howard High) in 1980. She pursued higher education at Virginia State University. Lita was employed in various employment areas with her last being with Simms Associates which she was very excited about until her health issues prevented her from being able to continue working.
Lita was a born again baptize believer who received her early spiritual nurturing at Tabernacle Full Gospel Church under the leadership of late Bishop Aretha Morton and would always tell stories of how her mom took her to church. She later joined the Ezion Fair Baptist Church. In 2021 God established the Church of Exodus where Lita joined and became a chartered member under the Pastorship of Reverend Ricky Waterman. She served God faithfully thru the Pastors Care Ministry, the Greeters and the Women’s Ministry. She just loved the Lord and would be found often saying “Don’t tell me what my God won’t do”.
Lita loved shopping at various places including riding to Cowtown with her church family, friends and her first lady. She always blessed others by purchasing bling t-shirts and comfortable dresses with spiritual says. She enjoyed hanging out with her twin sister cousin Tracy Alston whom she has been connected to since birth and they just about did everything together joyfully. Lita was an avid “Dallas Cowboys” fan. She must have several t-shirts, sweatshirts and not to mention profile pictures of her favorite team.
Lita was a beautiful and loving person and she found an unbreakable bond with whom she called her, “modern day” Fred & Mable. Pastor Ricky and First Lady Betty Jean Waterman. Their strong connection came through the Overcomer’s Ministry and spilled across their families. You could always hear her “Brother Minister Dad Pastor” affectionately calling her “good trouble”. Everyone knew Lita was spoiled and stubborn, yet she loved on everyone she came in contact with. The last words her modern day parents heard was when Pastor Waterman said we hate to leave you here alone, she said I am never alone. Her faith and trust were in the Lord. Lita attempted to start a new journey in Huntsville, Alabama with her sister Norma, but didn’t take long for her to return. Funny thing is she returned after her beloved sister Suzette went on a visit. They too were inseparable. Lita’s eclectic care and concern for her sister Suzette was priceless. She took Suzette’s children and grandchildren as her very own and celebrated every accomplishment. Alia was her twin, Quamire was the apple of her eye and Kalia was her baby girl.
Lita was preceded in death by her parents Fred & Mable Young, her two brother’s Fred Young & Michael Young, her niece Kelly Young, her nephew Andre Young and brother in law Percy Skinner.
