Kathleen (Kathy) Dorsey was born to the late Benjamin and Mattie Smith in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on January 31, 1957.
At the age of 9, the family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. She was blessed to have her sons Benjamin Williams and later Greg Coppedge. She later relocated to Delaware and worked for the Department of Social Services until she became ill and retired early.
In 1996, she met the love of her life, Kevin Dorsey in Wilmington, Delaware on the West Side. She married Kevin on February 19, 1999 in Las Vegas.
She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Belvedere Fire Hall, the first black fire house in Delaware. She was also a member of the Free Rollers for Life Social Club.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Patricia and Terry, and brothers Donnielynn, Lewis and James.
She leaves to mourn her husband Kevin W. Dorsey of Wilmington, DE, four sons Benjamin Williams of Philadelphia, PA, Greg Coppedge of Wilmington, DE, Kevin Williams and Karim Bey, both of Wilmington, DE, six grandchildren Aionna, Ari, Benjamin Jr., Yusef, Elijah, and Noah, her siblings Beverly (Larry) Carlton of Claymont, DE, Demetrius (Lisa) Smith of West Chester, PA, and Tanya Bell of Chesapeake, VA, and a host of relatives and friends.
