Karl David Walker, affectionately known as “Rascal” was born October 10, 1953 to the late
Delores Walker-Lyle and King David Bordeaux (KD) in Rocky Point, NC. He departed this life
September 10, 2024 in the company of his love ones. His early public education was received in
the Wilmington, Delaware school system. Karl worked for the Wilmington Housing Authority
Maintenance Department after his time in the Marines. Karl and his brother, Maurice, worked
under contract installing storm doors for the Wilmington Housing Authority. He later worked
many years for the Walker Brother Construction Company in Wilmington, DE. Karl loved
listening to oldies, dancing, and cooking pig feet, neckbones, and a pot of beans. He was the
life of family gatherings. He loved socializing with family and friends. Karl was the person to
call when family or friends needed help with home or car repairs. He rarely charged any money
but he would say, “I’ll take a couple of dollars if you have it.” Karl was also the family babysitter
if needed. Karl had quite an expression with words. Some of his favorite sayings were,
“Chello”, “hey twista Lou”, boo-da-boo”, “my hunk of lard”, “you don’t hear me do ya”, and
many more. Karl was slow to anger but if he did get upset, he did not mind crying. Even when
he was happy with joy, he would cry.
Our beloved Karl will be missed tremendously by his family and friends. He will be loved
forever by everyone who was blessed to know him. He was a fighter for life until the end. Karl
accepted Jesus as his personal savior, and he believed that Jesus died on the cross to cover our
sins. He would often refer to “The Man Upstairs”
Karl made a point to let people know that he loved them. When he greeted you, he would
say, “I love you” and when he said goodbye, he would tell you how much he loved you! He
often would greet family and friends with a strong hug or punch in the arm and say “don’t you
know I love you!” Karl was a strong man. He had one of the strongest handshakes ever!
Everyone knew it and would be on guard for his strong grip.
Karl loved and cherished his family, and everyone loved Karl.
