Julia Ann Denzmore

February 24, 1954 — August 14, 2024

Julia Ann Denzmore, or Julie, born on February 24, 1954, in Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024. A free spirit with a strong will, Julie set out for California but ultimately found her home in Delaware, where she began a new chapter of her life.

In 1974, Julie graduated from Job Corps, marking the start of a dedicated career as a word processing technician with the City of Wilmington. She served the city with pride and commitment until her retirement in 2019. Julie was a passionate advocate for workers' rights, actively participating as a union member and being a proud member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) and AFSME Local 1102.

Though the last few years of her life were not what she envisioned, Julie faced them with grace and resilience. She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, often referring to her grandchildren as her "favorite people in the world." Her love for them was boundless, and the time she spent with them was her greatest treasure.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Denzmore (Baker) and Hugh W. Denzmore, her sisters Beverly J. Price (née Denzmore), Pamela M. Justus (née Denzmore), and her brother Hugh A. Denzmore. She leaves behind her loving children, Sarah E. Denzmore, and her cherished grandchildren, Isaiah Denzmore, Danae Whitaker, and Evelyn Whitaker. Julie is also survived by her siblings, Herbert Denzmore, Ronald Denzmore, Daniel Denzmore, Jeffrey Denzmore, Wesley Denzmore, and her beloved sister, Audrey Denzmore-Mitchell, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear.

Julie Ann Denzmore will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her dedication to her work and community, and most of all, her deep love for her family.
