Josette Elaine "Jazzy" Cooper

April 3, 1968 — October 9, 2022

Josette Elaine Copper was born in Reading. Pennsylvania (Schuylkill) on April 3, 1968 at 11:59 a.m. to the late George Eldridge Cooper, Sr. and Mary Ann Cooper. Elaine was the firstborn for both parents.

Elaine spent the early years of her childhood in Roanoke, Virginia with her father's family from birth to the age of 4. Besides a brief stint in Virginia, Elaine later moved to Wilmington, Delaware where she completed all of her education, graduating from Howard Career Center in 1986. Elaine studied Clothing Management and anyone who knew Jazzy knew she could dress her behind off.

After graduation, Elaine relocated back to Roanoke, Virginia, and in this time she was blessed with 2 sons who were the light of her life, Shikei and Tyreek Blake.

After moving back to Delaware, Elaine's compassion led her to secure employment in the medical sector. Elaine served many years at Christiana Care Hospital. She later moved on to the mental behavior field with Bancroft Behavioral Health.

Jazzy was a nickname that was given to her by one of her closest friends because of her unique personality and her desire to "jazz it up!" Jazzy was always the life of the party. Jazzy really enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and taking care of the people who mattered the most.

Jazzy's best joy came from her sons Shikei and Tyreek Blake and her grandchildren. She loved to travel and be next to the ocean. That was always her peace and joy. Just being able to free herself next to the water.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents George Eldridge Cooper, Sr. and Mary Ann Cooper, her brother George Michael Cooper, Jr., her Aunt Elaine, her favorite cousin Darlene Royer, godson Dakeevis Johnson and best friend Christine Reese.

She is survived by her children Shikei Blake and Tyreek Blake, daughter-in-law Malajah Person Blake, godson JoJo Dyson, her sister Lisa Jackson, all 7 of her grandchildren Shikei, Jr. (Mom-mom's dude,) Mai Zuri (her Mini-me), Stormi Zane (her Smiley), Bailey Blake (Firecraker), Mason Dray (Papa), Armani and Amari (her Twins), 4 nephews Robert Jackson, III, Jason Jackson, Jr., John Lee and Turbo and a host of relatives and friends.
