J. Eugene Jackson was born on March 9, 1949, in Crisfield, Maryland to the late Roland Brown and

Pearline Jackson. Eugene took flight on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in Wilmington, Delaware.

J. Eugene Jackson aka Gene and RIP…received education at Carter G. Woodson School in Crisfield,

Maryland. Gene relocated to Wilmington, Delaware with his great aunt, the late Garnett Allen and

completed his education at Wilmington High School.

Gene served a short stint in the Army, after which he returned to Delaware where he gained

employment at Chrysler, where he worked for over 25 years. Gene, aka RIP, was a devoted member of

the Thunder Guards for over 45 years.

Gene spent the majority of his life residing on the 600 block of Vandever Avenue and was best known

for his ability to dance, replicating James Brown! He was very good! One of the best in Delaware! Gene

was a man of many God given gifts. He could build a motorcycle from the ground up, was masterful in

wood carving, and skilled in oil paintings! He was also known for his big smile with that gleaming gold

tooth and his passion for fashion! Gene stayed sharp and dressed to the nines!!!

Gene was Pearline’s first born of four children and is preceded in death by father, Roland Brown;

mother, Pearline (Jackson) Lewis; his beloved brother, Louis C. Jackson, Sr and the late Louis Jackson, Jr..

He is survived by three sisters, Regina (Parker) Lyon, Odette Parker (Wayne), Ravene H. Brown; and two

brothers, Roland H. Brown, Jr. and Carlton Brown.

Gene has two biological children, Jacqueline (Jackie) Williams – (Chauncy Williams) Salisbury, MD;

Eugene L. Ward – Wilmington, De; Eight grandchildren: Shamekia, RaShana, Denisha, Tashia, Keonte,

Nefertiti aka Saahmad, Bellashia and Shykira;

Sixteen great grandchildren: Yatoria, Jah’Zion, Anthony, Brandon, Kaliyah, KaRontez, KyShon, K’mora,

Kaniya, Keonte Jr., Kharson, Ja’Mareon; Ka’Mauri Robbins, De’Shay, Jr., Zori Bernard, Zamauri Bernard

and two grand puppies – Jewels and Kaois.

Nephews: Jelani, Paris, Durel, and Javon,

Nieces: Bianca, Martasia, Lanise, and DeJean.

Gene was united in one marriage to D. Leslie Jackson for many years, after which established a lasting

relationship with Jacqueline (Jackie) Gasby, who was his significant other, devoted companion, best

friend and primary care provider. Jackie and Gene’s goddaughter Alicia (aka Buddah) and several family

members, took excellent care of Gene, even after he took flight.

Gene is survived by a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly!
