John E. Davis Jr.

April 1, 1967 — July 2, 2022

John E. Davis, Jr. was born to John E. Davis, Sr. and the late Margaret Ann Davis on April 1, 1967 in Erie, PA. John attended the public school system in Erie, PA and he matriculated at Temple University in 1985. He later received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Drexel University and his Masters of Science at Columbia University. He was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. John was also an active member of the Prince Hall affiliate Master Mason, Union Lodge #21, and Noble of Suakim Temple #60.

John was hard working. He worked in many industries from healthcare to being an entrepreneur. While John never saw himself as an educator, he grew to love and cherish the moments he spent with his students. He infectiously provided wisdom, introduced James Brown music and found a way to make mathematics common and easy. Most of all, John had a passion for mentoring throughout his life. He adopted, mentored and actively developed future leaders through The Alpha Leadership Academy Mentoring program. For the past three years, John was actively teaching at the New Castle Charter School as a math teacher.

John loved his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. John was a grandfather and Godfather. He had a special relationship with Arbella, whom he affectionately called "Bella Boo." John left a lasting impression on this world. He was a son, brother, father, husband, teacher, mentor and friend.

John leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Shanell Knox-Davis; grandmother, Lucy Hunter, father, John E. Davis, Sr.; three sisters, Theresa M. Davis, Pamela Davis, Jaclyn Davis, brother Marcus Davis, and an honorary brother, Jimmy (Boe) Dale, Jr.; children son, Brandon Weller; daughters Olyvia and Aaveri Davis, and two "Bonus Daughters" Mya Knox and Keri Edwards; and a host of grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins and loving friends.

John E. Davis Jr. will truly be missed. Previous Events
