John "Coke" Gasby, Jr.

John Gasby Jr. was born on September 9, 1954 in Wilmington, DE to John L. and Florence M. Gasby. He departed this life at home on October 15, 2020.

John, Johnny, or Coke, as he was affectionally called by his family, graduated from Delawarr High School. He worked under the leadership of Pete Shannon and later was employed for over 20 years with Park Plaza Condominiums before retiring due to health reasons. He also attended Star Bethlehem Church in Belvedere with his Mother.

On June 23, 1979, John married Valerie Wright and from this union Johnetta Danielle Gasby was born.

Johnny loved detailing cars, watching his Philadelphia Eagles, playing cards with family and would love to take over the grill at the family cookouts. He always enjoyed being around family and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John and Florence Gasby, his brothers James Hunter and Anthony Gasby, and his daughter Johnetta D. Gasby.

John is survived by six sisters, Margaret (Puddin) Miller, Sylvia Scott, Mabel (Teane) Collins, Linda Gasby, Jacqueline Gasby, and Cynthia Gasby; two grandchildren, Ja'Anna and Ja'Ron Bratcher; stepson Dieran Johnson; Godson David (Dawn), Raynesha and Teeaira Bessix; Godchildren Drequille (BJ), Nasiar Jr, Valancia Truitt, Ariana, Renay, Claudetta and Quentin; devoted brother-in-law Doug Sudler; devoted nephew Shannon Gasby; devoted grand-nephew Jahmiere Gasby; devoted friends Michael, Timothy and Christopher Wright, Debra Wright (Bookie), and April Ferherilly (Munch), and a host of nieces and nephews.
